| Tausta | In the background of the project is the recognition of the high burden mental illness puts on health systems on European Union Member states and the recognition of the risks of financial sustainability for them. The project supports the European Pact for Mental Health and Well-being that aims to promote at EU level an exchange on the challenges and opportunities in mental health with EU institutions, Member states and other relevant stakeholders. |
| Tavoite | The European Union funded Project on Mental Health Systems in the European Union Member States focuses on mental health promotion and prevention of mental illness programmes, status of mental health in populations and benefits to be expected from investments into mental health. The role of collaborators is to provide up-to-date information on mental health systems for their country as part of the Project. |
| Menetelmät/aineisto/toteutus | Country profiles include the following themes: - The status of mental health in the population, including the prevalence of mental illness and protective and risk factors - The organisation and functioning of mental health systems and the contribution of mental health promotion and prevention of mental illness in schools, the workplace and long-term institutions for older people - The benefits that are expected from action and investment into mental health - Proposals for initiatives to strengthen mental health, both on national and regional levels by non-governmental actors or organisations. The country profile of Finland is prepared by the University of Lapland and the Rehabilitation Foundation. The project is coordinated by Nottingham NHS Trust (England). |
